YEREVAN, AUGUST 23, NOYAN TAPAN. "The Declaration of Independence
adopted in 1990 is invulnerable in political terms and unique
in legal terms, which belongs not only to the present but also to
future generations." This conviction was expressed by Aram Manukian,
a member of the board of the Armenian National Movement, at the press
conference, which was held on the occasion of the 17th anniversary
of the Declaration of Independence.
Referring to the presidential elections to be held in 2008, Aram
Manukian declared that Levon Ter-Petrosian, the first RA President,
will declare about his nomination in the forthcoming presidential
elections between September 15 to 30. "Levon Ter-Petrosian is the
very relevant and foreseeable political figure, who is able to settle
Armenia and fulfil public demands," Aram Manukian mentioned.
He also mentioned that the Armenian National Movement is currently
conducting discussions with different political forces. Aram Manukian
did not exclude the possibility of the Armenian National Movement’s
cooperation with other political forces in the forthcoming presidential
elections.
