YEREVAN, AUGUST 24, NOYAN TAPAN. The InnovationECA 2007 conference
will be held in Yerevan for the first time on September 17-20. The
Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) and the World Bank’s INFODEF
organization are the event’s organizers, EIF director Bagrat
Yengibarian told NT correspondent.
According to him, more than 100 experts from Eastern Europe and the
CIS, developed European and Asian countries, the US, Australia will
participate in the conference, during which such issues as innovation
policies of these countries, financing of innovation activity by
venture and investment structures, as well as the problem of this
activity’s promotion by big IT companies will be discussed.
B. Yengibarian said that the last two days of InnovationECA 2007
will be dedicated to the subject of developing the cooperation of
innovation incubators, especially in Eastern Europe and the CIS.
"No such event has been held in Transcaucasia and the adjacent
region. I think it will help raise rating of Armenia as a IT country,"
he noted. In his words, the success achieved by EIF was also conducive
to holding this conference in Armenia. The EIF’s experience was,
in particular, presented at the innovation conference organized by
WB in Cambridge in the spring.
It was mentioned that InnovationECA conferences are held every
year. The last one took place in India in 2008.
