At yesterday’s closed meeting of leaders of a number of oppositional
parties, the "National Unity" party leader Artashes Geghamyan offered
to invite RA President Robert Kocharyan and PM Serzh Sargsyan to the
next consultations, an informed source close to one of the parties,
which took part at yesterday’s meeting, told ArmInfo.

According to the information, A. Geghamyan hopes to achieve a national
unity. At the previous meeting, he addressed the country’s authorities
to retire voluntarily. However, his initiatives were not supported
by is oppositional counterparts. Meanwhile, it has become known
about a bilateral meeting of leaders of "Orinats Yerkir" party Artur
Baghdasaryan and the People’s party Stepan Demirchyan. As ArmInfo’s
analysts note, this meeting has been stipulated for A. Baghdasaryan’s
strive to enlist support of PPA’s leader on the threshold of the
presidential election.

To add, representatives of a number of leading oppositional parties,
namely, the "Heritage", "Republic", the Armenian National Movement
and the "Alternative" movement did not take part at yesterday’s
meeting, initiated and widely announced by leader of the "Unity
for Self-determination" party Paruyr Hayrikyan. Holding of the next
meeting is possible only if a situational necessity is available,
about which participants of yesterday’s consultations agreed.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
