120 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR ARMENIAN STUDENTS

One hundred undergraduate students of 13 universities and colleges of
Yerevan will get the scholarship of friendship with an annual fund of
120 thousand dollars. It became known on August 31 when the minister
of education and science Levon Mkrtichyan stated that the excellent
students from underprivileged families will get a monthly scholarship
of 100 dollars. The minister said the aim of the scholarship is to help
students of underprivileged families to pay their tuition fees and
other expenses. Levon Mkrtichyan said the selection of students will
be based on their credits, the reference of the students’ councils,
as well as the social certificate.

Hrant Poghosyan, founder of the Education fund and the director
of Roskomnedvejimost, said the certificates of scholarship will be
handed out on October 12, 2007. He also said they plan to boost the
scholarship fund up to 200-300 thousand dollars. Poghosyan also said
they intend to launch charity programs in science, ARKA reported.
