MEANINGFUL WORLD

The United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI)

In Cooperation With

The NGO/DPI Executive Committee

Presents the 60th Annual DPI/NGO Conference

Climate Change: How It Impacts Us All
5-7 September 2007

The Conference will review the scientific evidence on climate change,
including its consequences on indigenous peoples, water security, land
use and the politics of energy. The Conference aims to facilitate
individual action plans that address the threat of catastrophe posed
by climate change and inspire participants to take action to mitigate
– and in some cases – reverse the effects of this environmental
crisis.

Midday Workshop Schedule
Wednesday, 5 September 2007
1:15 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Conference Room A

Climate Change and the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection:
Challenges for Holistic Health and Education

Sponsored by Armenian International Women’s Association
Cosponsored by Worldwide Network for Gender Empowerment, Fielding
Graduate University; International Council of Psychologists;
Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention; Afram Global
Organization, Inc., Guinea, West Africa; and Meaningfulworld.com

This workshop will describe the interdependent relationship between
individuals and the environment. The members of this panel will
address one of the least-talked-about effects of global climate
change: its impact on the mind, body, and spirit. Panel members from
Africa, Armenia, and Indonesia will address the physical, emotional,
mental, and spiritual effects of climate change. They will also
describe how we can positively engage the challenge posed by these
effects by how we think, feel, believe, and behave. Through
interactive dialog, verbal presentation, and visual examples, the
panel will illustrate how taking care of oneself takes care of the
earth.

Anie Kalayjian, Armenian International Women’s Association,
Adj. Professor of Psychology, Fordham University; President,

Emil Lazarian

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
