The women of St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn make cheoreg, a
traditional, slightly sweet bread.

This Armenian bread is usually made at Easter time but is being made
here for St. Leon’s annual Food Festival, to be held on Oct. 12, 13
and 14. Members and volunteers spend weeks preparing for the
festival. They will make some 5,600 breads and usually sell out every
year.
The festival will feature an array of Armenian food, a performance by
the Antranig Dance Ensemble on Saturday evening and games and
activities for children.
