YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS: A prominent French-Armenian painter
Asilva will have the second exhibition of her works in Armenia. It
will open on September 12 at the National Picture Gallery.
Ms. Asilva has called her second display that will feature over
40 paintings on paper "An Exhibition with Mirrors." The National
Picture Gallery has published an illustrated album of her works in
three languages- Armenian, French and English.
Her first exhibition was held here three years ago and was visited
by thousands of art lovers and some foreign diplomats.
The previous exhibition’s ceremonial closing was spearheaded by
France’s Ambassador Henry Cuny, who said, "I am always delighted to
receive French artists here be them of Armenian descent or other. I
myself am a man of pen and therefore am trying to look for and
understand the roots of artists in their works."
According to Cuny, history and geography merge in Asilva’s
painting. ‘There are reflections of Armenia being a land-locked
country and there is a dream to step out of its boundaries."
In 2005 she organized in Yerevan the display of works by 16 painters
from Europe, Africa and Asia.
Last year she paid also a short visit to Nagorno-Karabakh to look
into possibilities of opening there an exhibition of her works.
