HIS HOLINESS ARAM I RECEIVES MP ROBERT GHANEM

His Holiness Aram I received Lebanese Member of Parliament (MP) Robert
Ghanem in the Monastery in Bikfaya on September 5. The main purpose of the
visit was to hold talks with the Armenian Pontiff on the internal political
situation in Lebanon and present his bid for the presidency.

Nasib Lahoud also had visited the Catholicos a few days ago.

The Pontiff reminded both candidates that as one of the basic communities of
Lebanon, the Armenian community remains committed to the basic principles of
independence, sovereignty and unity. He added that the Armenian community
always has a balanced approach towards all sides on the basis of both its
interests and the interests of Lebanon.
