YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 7, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian Youth delegation
took part in the international conference titled "Potential of the
young for peace", which was held in the city of Sharm-el-Sheikh of
the Arabic Republic of Egypt from September 1 to 3. According to the
information provided by Arthur Poghosian, the RA Deputy Minister of
Sport and Youth Affairs, at the press conference held on September 7,
about 1000 young people from 100 countries took part in the conference
with the following slogan: "The young speak, we listen". The conference
was organized by the "Women’s International Movement" headed by Suzan
Mubarak, the first Lady of Egypt. The Armenian delegation was composed
of 11 young people having different specialities.

In the words of Arthur Poghosian, the special attitude of the
organizers towards the Armenian delegation was felt throughout the
visit: the Armenian delegation was received by S. Mubarak on September
2. During the meeting she highly appreciated the participation of the
Armenian delegation in the conference. The Deputy Minister mentioned
that S. Mubarak attached importance to the continuousness of such
kind of measures at international and regional levels.

By the way, singer Sirusho, a member of the Armenian delegation,
performed a song during the closing ceremony of the conference.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
