September 8 and 12 the national football team of Armenia had to
compete with Azerbaijan in the framework of Euro 2008 qualification
round. However, as it is known, the UEFA took the decision to cancel
the matches. Instead, on September 8 and 12 the Armenian team will
hold friendly matches with the national teams of Cyprus and Malta
respectively.
It should be noted that the chief coach of the Armenian national team
Ian Porterfield will not be present at the matches. The latter is
receiving treatment in Scotland. He will be replaced by assistants
Tom Johns of England and Vardan Minasyan of Yerevan.
