NKR New President’s Inauguration To Be Held Today

NKR NEW PRESIDENT’S INAUGURATION TO BE HELD TODAY

ArmInfo. A special session of the NKR Parliament will be held today at
5:00 PM in the Officers’ Club in Stepanakert in view of inauguration
of the newly elected NKR President Bako Sahakyan.

As ArmInfo’s special correspondent in Stepanakert reports, according
to the NKR Constitution, the Republic’s President assumes office as
established by Law at a special session of the Parliament, making the
following oath to the people: "Assuming the office of Nagorno Karabakh
Republic’s President, I swear to implicitly fulfill the requirements of
the Constitution, respect the rights and freedoms of a human being and
a citizen, assure sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and
security for the glory of Nagorno Karabakh Republic and for welfare of
our people". According to the Constitution, the republic’s president
will submit the prime minister’s candidacy to the parliament within
10 days after assuming the office. The parliament will consider the
proposed PM’s candidacy during 5 days. Having received the parliament’s
consent by majority of votes of the total number of deputies, the PM
candidate is appointed Prime Minister by the country’s president. By
prime minister’s proposal, the republic’s president appoints two
other members of the Government within 20 days. As established by
the relevant Article of the Constitution, the Parliament approves
the Government’s programme.

Arrival of over 300 guests from near and far abroad, as well as
RA President Robert Kocharyan, representatives of parliamentary
factions and the public of Armenia to Stepanakert to the ceremony of
NKR President’s inauguration is expected. Representatives of Abkhazia
and South Ossetia have already arrived in Stepanakert. A concert with
participation of the local artists and stars of the Armenian show
business will be held on Stepanakert’s central square of Rebirth in
view of NKR President’s inauguration.
