Armenia negotiates with the European Commission on the issue of
export of Armenian fish products to the European market, David Lokyan,
Armenian Agriculture Minister, said in Parliament, Wednesday.
According to him, the annual output of fish products in the republic
totals 8-10 thsd tons, this is sufficient not only for domestic
consumption, but also for export to Europe. However, the lack of
necessary laboratories hinders to do this in the full volume. At the
moment, the Armenian Health Ministry, which has such a laboratory, is
empowered to grant certificates of quality for fish products. Another
laboratory for animal produce will shortly be set up with financial
assistance. In addition, Greece offered its help for the laboratory’s
creation. The Minister noted that as of today, Armenia exports its
fish products to Russia, Ukraine, partly to Germany, as well as Jordan.
