Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Thanh An clinched a bronze medal at the Asian
Women’s Chess Championship 2007 that wrapped up Wednesday in Iran.

Her achievement has won her an automatic spot at the World Juniors
and Girls Championship that will start on October 2 in Armenia.

Thanh An stood third after scoring six points from six draws and
three wins after nine rounds of chess.

India’s Sachdev Tania took the gold medal with 6.5 points as the
silver medallion went to Lufei Ruan from China.

Six Vietnamese contestants took part in the 11-day tournament that
hosted 32 competitors.
