His Holiness Karekin II to Consecrate Main Altar in Pasadena
It is with great joy that we convey to our faithful that the main altar
of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church of Pasadena,
California, will be consecrated by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme
Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, on October 1, 2007. His
Holiness Karekin II, the head of the worldwide Armenian Apostolic
Church, will arrive in Pasadena from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
in Armenia.
A festive pontifical procession led by Catholicos Karekin II and the
clergy of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America
will take place at 6:00 PM on Monday, October 1, 2007, followed by a
brief service in the newly built sanctuary, which was consecrated on
September 9. His Holiness Karekin II, with the participation of His
Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese,
and the parish pastor, Very Rev. Fr. Baret Yeretzian, along with clergy,
deacons and choir members will participate in the historic consecration
of the main altar.
Upon the conclusion of the service on Monday, October 1, the faithful
are invited to attend a welcoming reception for His Holiness Karekin II,
the 132nd Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, in the
adjacent Agajanian Hall.
