The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group start their visit to the region
on September 14. The visit will last for five days and end on September
19. The mediators will first arrive in Yerevan. On September 16 they
plan to visit Nagorno-Karabakh. It will be the first meeting of the
co-chairs with President Bako Sahakyan.
The co-chairs intend to discuss the document on a peace settlement
set forward in late spring.
The press secretary of the Armenian president said in a news conference
today the expectations from this visit are as usual: elaborating the
basic principles and bringing the approaches of the sides closer.
On the eve the foreign minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammedyarov
had stated Armenia’s agreement regarding the document might mark a
breakthrough in the talks.
Earlier the Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanyan had described
this document as fair. "This document involves all the necessary
components," he said. The head of the Armenian foreign ministry said
the proposals regarding the basic issues help to resolve the problem.
"It is a balanced document, and we are ready to continue the talks
on the basis of it," Oskanyan said.
