The Iranian short documentary "Water’s Bride" directed by Mahdi Arab
Yarmohammadi has won the award for the best film in a Kyrgyz festival.

The 14-minute color documentary is about the rain-seeking traditions
observed in central Iran’s desert area, comprising various elements
like cooking, sacrificing cows and saying prayers.

About 100 films from Armenia, Iran, Latvia, Ukraine, Canada, Turkey,
Tajikistan, China, and Azerbaijan were screened at Kyrgyzstan’s
Issykkul Film Festival, which was held in Chalpon Ata 250 kilometers
from Bishkek on September 3-9.

The festival has been organized jointly by the Iranian Young Cinema
Society (IYCS), Kyrgyzstan’s state enterprise, Kyrgyz Kino, and the
country’s foreign ministry.

"Life and No More" by Ruhollah Molavi, "With Him" by Naqi Nemati" and
"Woman, Color, Wedding" are among the Iranian entries at the first
Issykkul Film Festival.
