Minsk group cochairmen Bernar Fasei, of France, and Yuri Merzyakov,
of Russia, made the following pronouncement: the Karabakh side must
take part in future negotiations concerning solving the Karabakh
conflict. To this, according to "Trend," Azerbaijani foreign ministry
spokesman Ghezer Ibrahim announced, "Azerbaijan will talk with Karabakh
after Armenia recognizes Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and pulls
off to one side." According to him, Azerbaijan’s position hasn’t
changed, saying it is impossible for representatives from Karabakh
to take part in the current stages of the talks. The spokesman says
that Azerbaijan expects the cochairmen to actively demand that the
Armenian side develop a more constructive position.
We remind that the Azerbaijani side recently announced that the talks
would move forward when Armenia accepted the proposals of the Minsk
group, even though they themselves are against the current viewpoints
of the cochairmen.
