LINCY FOUNDATION DEPUTY CHAIRMAN EXAMINES PACE OF TWO PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS: Armen Gevorkian, chief of president
Robert Kocharian’s staff and Harout Sasoonian, deputy chairman of the
U.S.-based Lincy Foundation, visited today several schools in Yerevan,
which are being repaired on Lincy funds and also a road construction
site, also funded by Lincy.
The deadline for these two projects is September 1, 2008.
Five schools in Yerevan and as many outside it- in Vanadzor, Gyumri,
Ashtarak, Martuni and Hrazdan. are being reinforced and repaired on
Lincy funds. The total budget of this project is $18.6 million.
The budget of the second road construction project is almost $21
million. Part of this money is being utilized for repair of Tigran
Mets, Komiats avenues, Kasyan street.
The bulk of this sum, $15 million is earmarked for instruction of a
2.5 km Saralanj road which the authorities expect to ease traffic in
downtown parts of the city.
Speaking to reporters, Harout Sasoonian said he was pleased with the
quality of the work. "There is big progress since my last visit in
2006. I am impressed with speedy and good job," he said.
He said the Lincy Foundation does not plan a new program in Armenia,
at least until these two projects are over.
