COMRADE ARMEN AND COMRADE VAHAN DIFFERENT IN STYLE BUT SAME IN IDEAS

Armen Rustamyan and Vahan Hovannisyan, candidates for president at
the presidential elections from Dashnaksutiun, will soon start their
"mini" election campaign within the political party. Rustamyan told a
news conference today that they will meet with their co-fellows and
supporters and will present their programs and dispositions. Such
meetings will continue until November when the Supreme Assembly of
Dashnaksutiun will elect the main candidate.
Asked how the competition will run between the two Dashnak
candidates, Rustamyan said: "There will be no competition in the
classic sense. After all, comrade Vahan and me are people of the
same fate. We are different in styles but the same in principles and
ideas. There will be no competition in the way you may think."
Rustamyan evaluated nomination of two candidates at 11th
Supreme Assembly in Shushi as "innovation and a bright example
of democracy." The Dashnak urged those who are amazed not to be
surprised at the behavior of Dashnaksutiun since they are not "tied"
to coalition.
"We are not part of the coalition but we have signed an agreement
with the coalition," he said also saying they will resolve the idea
that the results of the elections are "predetermined."
