DAYS OF UNION OF RUSSIA’S ARMENIANS AND WORLD ARMENIAN CONGRESS TO BE HELD IN ARMENIA AND KARABAKH

Days of the Union of Russia’s Armenians and World Armenian Congress are
to be held in early October in Armenia and Karabakh, Atom Mkhitaryan,
the chairman of Youth Organizations Association of World Armenian
Congress, said on Monday.
He told journalists that Armenian youth organizations will take part
in the event.
Another representative of the association, Mariam Martirosyan,
said that meetings will be held with members of youth organizations
functioning in Armenian overseas communities as part of the program.
"We intend to discuss prospects of establishing a youth center in
southern Russia under the auspices of the Union of Russia’s Armenians",
she said.
The Association of Youth Organizations of World Armenian Union was
founded in 2006. The union comprises of eleven youth organizations
of Armenia.
Union of Russia’s Armenians was established in June 2000 as Russian
NGO.
The Congress established in October 2003 enjoys an international
status.
The aim of the Congress is to strengthen ties with between Armenia
and Armenian communities overseas, to promote Armenia’s economic
development as well as to settle Karabakh conflict and contribute to
efforts to obtain international recognition of Armenian Genocide fact.
