Large-scale military exercises with the participation of all branches
of the armed forces take place in Nagorno-Karabakh. According
to General Levon Mnatsakyan, chief of staff of the separatists,
artillery, armored vehicles, army aviation and air defense forces
work out measures for defense from an attack of a conventional enemy.
To peculiarities of the exercises belong the fact that full military
units take part in them. The exercises pass in four stages: preparation
of a defensive battle with the participation of a military formation,
conduction of a defensive battle, preparation of an offensive and
an offensive.
According to Mnatsakyan, the troops are tasked to stop the enemy, to
incur damage on it, to prepare an offensive afterwards and to start an
offensive battle with use of an army anti-assault formation. These are
the largest military exercises in Nagorno-Karabakh for many years. It
is no secret that they are intended to show that statements of the
Azerbaijani party about readiness to liberate the occupied territories
by force are doomed to fail.
