YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS: The fifth High Fest international
theater festival will kick off in Yerevan on October 4. It will bring
to the Armenian capital theater companies from 33 countries.
The 350 participants will be from Great Britain, USA, Switzerland,
Germany, Austria, Holland, Lithuania, Israel, Russia, Serbia, the
Czech republic and other countries.
Armenia will be represented by 17 companies.
President of the festival, Arthur Ghukasian, said two companies
applied from Turkey, but one was rejected because it did not meet
the festival’s requirements.
The main goal of the festival is to present the world theatrical art
in Armenia and to promote the Armenian theatre in other countries.
Arthur Ghukasian said the festival offers the audience a unique
opportunity to see the highly artistic samples of multi-genre
theatrical art, such as drama and comedy, musicals and dance
performances, marionette and puppetry, plastic and verbal, mime and
street performances.
Performances will be staged on 14 venues of Yerevan. Besides the
main program of the festival other events, such as seminars will
be organized to create a favorable atmosphere for exchange of ideas
and experience.
The government has released this year, for the first time, 39 million
Drams to help organize the festival.
