MTS EXPECTS TO RECEIVE A LICENSE FOR 3G IN ARMENIA

Yerevan, September 27 /Mediamax/. Russian MTS Company, which owns the
80% shares of VivaCell mobile operator, expects to receive a license
for providing services of mobile connection of the third generation
(3G) in Armenia.
Mediamax reports that the President of MTS Leonid Melamed said this
in an interview, published today in the Moscow "Vedomosti" newspaper.
"When we introduced ourselves to the Minister of Transport and
Communication of Armenia Andranik Manukian to understand what the
policy of the government is in the sphere of communication, it was
noted that in the nearest future the process of granting licenses
for 3G will probably start in Armenia. They promised not to forget
about us", Leonid Melamed stated.
The Spokeswoman of "ArmenTel" Hasmik Chutilian told Mediamax today that
the license of the company stipulates for provision of 3G services.
