Benik Babaian Benik Babaian was born in 1956, March 24th, in Kelbend
village of Azerbaijan’s Ismayil region. In 1981 he graduated from
the Institute of National Economy of Azerbaijan being qualified as
an economist. In 1975-1977 he served in the ranks of inner forces of
MIA of the USSR. In 1977-1983 he worked at findepartment of executive
committee of the council of people’s deputies. In 1983-1987 he held a
post of the chief of the department of production works and wages of NK
provincial trade unions’ council. In 1987-1993 he was an assistent of
the chairman of Stepanakert executive committee of People’s Deputies’
Council. In 1994-1995 he workwd at RA state administration of special
programs. In 1995-1997 he held a post of vice-minister of NKR Economics
and Finance, chief of Economic Administration. In 1996-2000 he was the
chairman of the council of "Artsakhbank" closed joint-stock company. In
1997-1998 he worked as the chief of the State Administration of
Privatization and Investments. In 1998-2000 – Minister of Economic
and Structural Reforms. In 2000-2002 – the chief of the NKR State
Administration of Statistics, State Registre and Analysis. From 2002
he holds a post of the NKR National Statistical Service. He is married
and has 2 children.
