AMERIA UNVEILS FINDINGS OF LABOR MARKET STUDY

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS: A business
consulting and law firm Ameria has unveiled today the
findings of a massive study of Armenia’s labor market
with a particular focus on labor opportunities in
Gyumri, the administrative center of the northwestern
Shirak province.
As part of the study vulnerable groups in Yerevan
and disabled population’s labor problems in Gyumri
were in the focus.
The firm asked 1,200 people across the country
representing seven vulnerable groups, also 520
organizations and 25 experts.
Experts point out a divergence between the
country’s employment and education policies, which
results in serious discrepancies between the demand
and offer of labor force.
Nevertheless, they say despite a rather large
unreported employment rate the current labor market
development trend is promising and in three years the
demand and offer may balance out.
Experts also call on the government to take more
resolute action to cut shady employment level. The
study suggests creation of employment centers for
first-time job seekers.
`To help vulnerable groups we should know their
problems,’ employment and social affairs minister
Aghvan Vardanian said today.
The study was commissioned to Ameria by the
employment and social affairs ministry.
