Legal Presentation to Focus on Educational Rights of Armenian Children with
Special Needs

LOS ANGELES – Armenian parents of children with special needs will have a
unique opportunity to learn about their educational rights during a
presentation sponsored by the Armenian Autism Outreach Project and featuring
speakers from the law firm of Martin & Martin, LLP.

Special education law constitutes one of Martin & Martin’s key practice
areas, and its presentation will focus on "Advocating for Your Child: The
IEP Process." It will take place during a Parent Support Group on Tuesday,
October 30, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm, at the La Crescenta Armenian Center,
2633 Honolulu Avenue in Montrose. The event is free and open to the public.

Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) are customized plans tailored to
the specific educational needs of students with autism or other
disabilities.

"The presentation will be tremendously useful to Armenian parents who need
help understanding the legal issues involved in the educational rights of
children with special needs," stated Aram Kouyoumdjian, a senior litigation
attorney at Martin & Martin. "We’re happy to be collaborating with the
Armenian Autism Outreach Project to provide this service to the community."

The Armenian Autism Outreach Project is dedicated to providing education,
informational resources, and support to parents, educators, and service
providers in the autism community. The Parent Support Group is among its
myriad activities, which include teacher seminars, informational meetings
for parents, and media outreach.

Martin & Martin, LLP, was honored last month with the Client Service
Award by the California Minority Counsel Program. Founded by two
Harvard Law School graduates, the firm’s Education Law Practice Group
represents families of children with special needs within school
districts throughout Southern California.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
