President of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, Serbia’s
Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic called on the Armenian and Azerbaijani
leaders to mobilize all efforts for the lasting, peaceful solution
of the Karabakh conflict, Turan agency reports.

Referring to the July 13th statement of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs,
Jeremic welcomed the joint visit of representatives of Armenia and
Azerbaijan to Yerevan, Baku and Stepanakert. In the Minister’s opinion,
such trips are useful for the establishment of the atmosphere of trust
between the conflicting sides and for better understanding each other.

Vuk Jeremic considers that every threat of use of force is
counter-effective. He urged the parties to refrain from such calls.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
