The National Statistics Service of Armenia has prepared a
sustainability report relying on the information of the Ministry of
Environmental Protection. In August 2007, urban air pollution density
in Armenia exceeded the maximum allowable rate. Pollution monitoring
was held in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Hrazdan, Alaverdi and Ararat.

The monthly level of ozone density has gone down 1.1 times. In Gyumri,
the average monthly density of dust in the air exceeded the allowable
index 2.2 times. At the same time, compared with July, no significant
variations of the maximum allowable density of dust were reported. No
variations were reported in Vanadzor either.

In Hrazdan, cement dust exceeds the allowable density 5.1 times,
and the average monthly density has gone up 1.3 times. In Ararat
the average monthly allowable density of cement dust was exceeded
4.9 times.

In the accounting period, the amount of sulfur dioxide exceeded the
allowable density 1.1 times, and nitrogen dioxide exceeded 1.2 times.
