ARMENIAN NATIONAL SONG FROM SWITZERLAND TO ARMENIA
"Komitas" band sang in Gyumri
The concert held in Gyumri Academy of Arts’ hall was dedicated to the
10th anniversary of the "KAZA" Swiss philanthropic foundation. In the
first part of the concert students of local Sheram musical school
departments of piano, national musical instruments and vocal, also the
group of duduk-players appeared on the stage. In the second part sang
"Komitas" band of the Swiss town Lozan. The founder and conductor of
the band Sirvard Kazangian took the initiative in founding the "KAZA"
Swiss philanthropic foundation in 1997 that has carried out various
philanthropic, educational, constructional and other programs in
different parts of Armenia during the previous years.
It was a revelation for the people in the hall to see seven Swiss, not
Armenian singers of "Komitas" band, who sang only Armenian national
and spiritual songs: their classical perfections by Komitas, Ekmalian,
Alan Hovhannes, Babajanian, Al. Harutyunian.
As an answer to our gratification after the concert one of the members
of the band mentioned, "You, Armenians, have a wonderful music".
