Patriarch of Armenians in Turkey, Mesrop Mutafyan, came out against
the House committee’s Oct. 10 approval of Resolution No. 106. The
spiritual leader said that the resolution’s passage was because of
"the fact that this question is periodically brought up as a part of
their inner politics."
During a visit to one of the churches of Antalya, Mutafyan stated that
he would do all he could to work against the resolution becoming law,
"because this resolution doesn’t reflect the feelings of Armenians
living in Turkey. We are all against the resolution.
Armenians in Turkey are worried about the resolution, and what might
happen if it becomes law," he added.
Mutafyan also expressed disappointment that official Yerevan didn’t
agree to Turkish prime minister Erdogan’s offer to let historians look
into the Genocide issue. "It is a very worthy suggestion," he said,
as reported by Turkish media.
