Ankara, 16 October: President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep
Tayyip Erdogan received the Turkish ambassador to the United States,
Nabi Sensoy, on Tuesday [16 October].

Ambassador Sensoy was recalled for consultations after last week’s
approval of the resolution regarding Armenian allegations on the
incidents of 1915 by the US House of Representatives committee on
foreign affairs.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Erdogan said, "We hope that
the US full house will turn down such an unfortunate resolution. I
believe that Turkey – United States relations will not be dragged into
a deadlock. We will continue holding talks with the US administration,
as well as some lobbies to prevent passage of the resolution."

Meanwhile, Sensoy told reporters following the meetings, "I will return
to my office in Washington, DC, after the consultations in Ankara."

Upon a question about Prime Minister Erdogan’s planned visit to the
United States in November, Sensoy said, "Prime Minister Erdogan is
planning to pay a formal visit to the United States on 5 November.

Preparations are under way."

"We will continue holding talks with US congressmen and draw their
attention to the likely results of the approval of the resolution on
the bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States. Turkey
is powerful enough to prove how wrongful the resolution is."

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
