OF 162 COMMUNITIES 154 ELECTED HEADS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

On Sunday 218 of 227 communities elected local councils. 162
communities voted to head of community. The turnout was 62.9 percent
in the country, and 43.7 percent in Stepanakert.
The chair of the CEC Sergey Nasibyan said the results of the elections
were valid in 154 of 162 communities. In 7 communities the votes
were recounted because there were complaints, and in the village of
Nerkin Sznek, Askeran, the sole incumbent candidate did not get enough
votes. Sergey Nasibyan said voting will be held in this community
within 30 days after the government passes a corresponding decision.
According to the preliminary results released by the CEC Vazgen
Michaelyan was elected mayor of Stepanakert. The new mayor of Martuni
is Nelson Musayelyan, Sergey Harutiunyan was elected in Martakert,
Jora Grigoryan in Karvachar and Arthur Sahakyan in Berdzor.
