WAC PRESIDENT: POTENTIAL OF ARMENIAN DIASPORA SHOULD BE UTILIZED FULLY FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF ARMENIA

YEREVAN, October 16. /ARKA/. The potential of the Armenian communities
abroad should be utilized to a broader extent for economic and
scientific development of Armenia, the President of the World
Armenian Congress (WAC) and the Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR)
Ara Abrahamian told journalists after his meeting in Armenia’s National
Academy of Sciences. Currently only 1% of that potential or even less
is used, he said.

According to Abrahamian, the capabilities of the Armenian diaspora
can be used for development of Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences
"The country and the diaspora attach great importance to Armenian
intelligentsia and Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences. Armenians
of Russia are proud that they are remarkable among other nations for
their intellectual potential," he said. In commenting the hard status
of the Armenian intelligentsia Abrahamian said that the responsibility
for that is with the society, authorities and the intelligentsia
themselves.
