HRAYR KARAPETIAN DOES NOT EXCLUDE THAT RATIO OF FORCES CAN CHANGE AT NA IN NEAREST FUTURE BY EXAMPLE OF 1998

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, NOYAN TAPAN. Levon Ter-Petrosian’s political
activity and role in the political field is a little exaggerated,"
Hrayr Karapetian, a member of the ARFD Supreme Body, the Head of
the ARFD parliamentary faction, considers. At the same time, at the
October 18 meeting with journalists, he reminded the processes of 1998,
"when the National Assembly’s ratio was changed in one day, and some
people feeling the abrupt change of the situation, threw themselves
in the camps of other forces."

H. Karapetian did not exclude that the situation of 1998 can recur
in the nearest future. According to him, today also there are many
people, whose position depends on the weight of the scales: "ARFD
does not accept such approaches, the most important in politics is
following exact principles, and we have always been guided by our
ideas," he stated.

Touching upon the issue that TV companies have not been taking part
in journalist clubs’ events for already several days, H. Karapetian
excluded that the President or the Prime Minister could have ordered
this. "This approach has been rather shown by an official, who wishes
to do disservice to the country’s leaders. Freedom of press should
not be limited, achievement of freedom is an irretrievable process
in Armenia."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
