STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS: Nagorno-Karabakh parliament
approved yesterday the government’s plan of actions, which was
presented to lawmakers by new prime minister Ara Harutunian.
The plan calls for 17 percent annual economic growth. "Some economists
say the target is not real, but we have no right to move ahead at a
slow pace,’ the prime minister said.
Under this plan, a per capita GDP by 2010 in Nagorno-Karabakh is
supposed to become $4,000. The government also promises to increase
old-age pensions twofold in the next five years.
The plan of actions places a special focus on agriculture and energy
sectors which are expected to boost dramatically.
The new prime minister also promised a crackdown on informal economy
sector saying otherwise the government would fail to meet its
projected targets.
Per capita GDP in Nagorno-Karabakh is now equal to $1.500, in Armenia
it is equal to $2,700.
