SOMETHING IS WRONG IN THE COUNTRY

In a news conference on October 19 at the Hayeli Club Armen
Rustamyan, representative of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Supreme Body,
criticized the recent situation at all the press clubs. Namely, the
TV channels have not been covering the news conferences at the press
clubs since October 15. The instruction is said to come from the
government.

Armen Rustamyan thinks later it will turn out to hinder the
development of a civil society. `If none comes, it means it is an
action of protest,’ Armen Rustamyan says. According to him, he cannot
state for sure that there was an instruction because he did not give
any instructions. And if he were to give instructions, he would
instruct to report everything to convey to the society every opinion
on one issue or another. `I am against, I would advise to stop the
action if it is an action. There are much more problems that need
action,’ Armen Rustamyan says. He says it is necessary to bring about
the principles that the country proclaimed on its establishment.

`If it is a boycott, I accept it, but a boycott should also be
transparent,’ Armen Rustamyan says. He means that if they boycott the
TV channels, they should tell the reason of the boycott. `It is
necessary to address the TV channels one by one and tell them they
are doing the wrong thing. What is the purpose of TV channels, if we
track the activities of the television and radio commission, do the
principles and goals of television stem from it? After all, we have
passed legislation, we have a Constitution, one of the mechanisms of
its application should be the fourth power. If the fourth power is
not independent, it means something is wrong in the country,’ Armen
Rustamyan says.
