YEREVAN, OCOTBER 23, NOYAN TAPAN. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, The President Of
The Islamic Republic Of Iran, Who Was In Yerevan On An Official Visit,
Did Not Visit The Memorial Of Tsiternakaberd On October 23 Morning
To Pay A Tribute To The Memory Of The Victims Of The Great Armenian
Genocide. The Visit Of The President Of The Islamic Republic Of Iran
To Tsiternakaberd Was Included In The Program Of His Visit To Yerevan.

The Visits To The Blue Mosque In Yerevan And The National Assembly
Of The Republic Of Armenia Envisaged For The Same Day Were Not
Held Either, Since The President Of Iran Left For Iran Yet In The
Morning. According To The Information Provided To A Noyan Tapan
Correspondent By Viktor Soghomonian, The Spokesperson Of The RA
President, Robert Kocharian, The President Of The Republic Of Armenia,
And His Iranian Colleague Made Arrangements On The Eve, According To
Which The Latter Was To Leave For His Homeland Earlier Than It Was
Envisaged By The Schedule Of His Official Visit Paid To Armenia For
Urgent Reasons.

Viktor Soghomonian Also Stated That The Fact That Mahmoud Ahmadinajad
Departed Earlier Than Envisaged Has Not Influenced Armenian-Iranian
Relations, The Presidents Have Exhausted The Whole Agenda Of The
Bilateral Negotiations.

It Should Be Mentioned That On October 22 During The Meeting With
The Teaching And Professorial Staff Of The Yerevan State University
In Response to the question of what position Tehran holds with regard
to the issue of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad did not give any qualification of that event. He only
mentioned: "We condemn any

violation of human rights." In the words of the President of the
Islamic Republic of Iran, the position of Tehran is based on two
aspects: the people should be concerned in their history in order
to remember it and live with future, however, referring to the past
should not bring to the recurrence of the events of the past. The
second aspect is that Iran is always with Armenia and is looking at
a bright future.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
