YEREVAN, OCTOBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. "That is one more reflection
of our unfair reality, as citizens’ basic right of expression,
receiving information, informing, stipulated by the Constitution is
violated." Raffi Hovannisian, the head of the RA National Assembly’s
Zharangutiun (Heritage) faction, expressed such an opinion about the
incident between policemen and opposition demonstrants, which happened
the day before.
Larisa Alaverdian, a member of the same faction, the first RA
Ombudsperson, said that a criminal case should be instituted first
of all to the policemen, who, breaking the law, formed a situation,
when citizens had to make criminal actions in response to them. The
deputy said this to NT correspondent, commenting upon the fact of
instituting a criminal case to some of demonstrants with the signs
of hooliganism and making resistance to policemen.
L. Alaverdian also said that the demonstrants gave out leaflets
on the rally to be held on October 26, which is not considered an
illegal action. While, according to her, the Police intervened by
using violence.
