ONLY 38 OUT OF SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF INVESTIGATORS SUBJECT TO DISMISSAL EXPRESS WILLINGNESS TO SERVE IN POLICE

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 25, NOYAN TAPAN. At the October 25 morning sitting,
the RA National Assembly in first reading adopted four bills and
legislative packages discussed the day before. They, in particular,
envisage to make amendments and addenda to the RA Code of Civil
Procedure and to the law On Service in Police. These amendments and
addenda are conditioned by the court and legal reforms proceeding
in RA.

The goal of the amendments and addenda made to the last law is to
create conditions for service of investigators moving from Prosecutor’s
Office to the Police. As a result of the reforms the Prosecutor’s
Office is not empowered to carry out preliminary examination, in
consequence of which the investigator’s staff of Prosecutor Office
bodies was reduced and the most of them was given to the RA Police.

According to the main reporter Ararat Mahtesian, the First Deputy Head
of the RA Police, 220 posts have been given to the body of preliminary
investigation in the Police. He also said that only 38 out of several
hundreds of investigators subject to dismissal in the Prosecutor’s
Office system have expressed willingness to serve in the Police for
the present.
