YEREVAN, OCTOBER 26, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The Georgian
Education Minister’s official visit to Armenia is planned for November
this year. A number of issues of bilateral cooperation, which mainly
regard opening of Armenian schools, other educational institutions
in Georgia, as well as making up Armenian textbooks will be discussed
during the meeting of the two countries’ Education Ministers.
Noyan Tapan correspondent was informed about it by Levon Mkrtchian,
the RA Minister of Education and Science. According to the Minister,
"if we manage in practice to achieve solution of all problems, about
which an agreement is reached during bilateral meetings, I think
much progress will be registered in education quality of Armenians
in Georgia."
L. Mkrtchian mentioned allocations given from the Georgian state budget
to Armenian educational institutions as progress. "The Georgian party
has assumed repairs of Armenian educational institutions and their
provision with property, therefore the Armenian government will move
its resources to another field, paying a special attention to program
issues of schools," the Minister said.
According to the Minister, proper conditions will be created
for Georgian Armenians, who wish to take part in united entrance
examinations of Armenian higher education institutions. "If the
Georgian government permits, we will open an examination center there,
otherwise, the examination will probably be organized in a school
near Gyumri’s border," L. Mkrtchian said.
During the forthcoming meeting with his Georgian counterpart, the
RA Minister of Education and Science will also raise the question of
founding an Armenian college in Tbilisi, which will enable to train
specialists for Javakhk’s Armenian schools. The Minister also said
that the teachers of Javakhk schools periodically pass retraining
in Armenia.
