ACCORDING TO MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, OPERATION OF TAILINGS NOT FIT FOR USE TO BE STOPPED IN SYUNIK REGION

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The main goal of October 30 working
visit to Syunik region of Aram Haroutiunian, the RA Minister of
Environmental Protection, was on the spot to get acquainted with
activity of Zangezur, Agarak Copper and Molybdenum, and Kapan’s CJSC
Dino Gold Mining Company enterprises. "We should mainly study and
find out what investments have been made, what new technologies are
used and what equipment has been installed to reduce environmental
pollution," the Minister said.
According to him, the fulfilment of the claims, which are made by the
Ministry of Environmental Protection to the enterprises, is checked
periodically. A. Haroutiunian also said that the Ministry supports
the economic entities in solution of these problems. In particular,
it was mentioned that the issue of tailings’ operation is put very
strictly. The Minister assured that operation of tailings not fit
for use will be stopped immediately.
