NATIONAL DEBT 1 BILLION 730.7 MILLION DOLLARS

The national debt of Armenia in 2008 has been foreseen at 1 billion
730.7 million dollars, stated the minister of finance and economy
Vardan Khachatryan on October 29, who presented the budget bill for
2008 to the National Assembly Committee of Finance, Budget and Lending.

According to Vardan Khachatryan, the ratio of the national debt to the
GDP will total 16.6 percent against 17.5 percent estimated for the end
of 2007. The minister said 84.3 percent of national debt is the foreign
debt which totals 13.9 percent of the GDP. "It should be noted that
the measurements of the foreign debt are within the indices of states
with a smaller loan burden," Vardan Khachatryan said, ARKA reports.
