Upon the initiative of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) a forum on protracted
conflicts will be held in Berlin November 5th. Head of the Armenian
delegation to PACE, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing
Committee on State-Legal Issues David Harutyunyan and member of the
PACE Monitoring Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing
Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Rustamyan will participate in
the forum. The Armenian delegation will also comprise Head of the
Foreign Relations Department of the NA Staff Varuzhan Nersisyan.
David Harutyunyan told Armenpress that the objective of such forums
is to discuss the possible developments. "These are not called to
resolve the conflict or create other mechanisms. The discussions
focus on the possible ways of conflict resolution and the possible
role of the Council of Europe member states," David Harutyunyan noted.
The sitting will be chaired by Lord Russell Johnston, the President
of the PACE Subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh.
