ARMENIA HAS ABOUT 1000 NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, ARMENPRESS: Some 946 printed mass media outlets
are registered now with the justice ministry-693 newspapers and 253
monthlies. The number of printed mass media outlets was 912 in August.

There are 65 private TV channels and 15 radio stations. Twenty-one
of private TVs are cable stations (5 in Yerevan and 16 outside it).

The biggest private TV stations are H2, Armenia TV and ALM. State-run
TV stations are H1 (Public TV) and Nor Alik (New Channel). Russian
ORT, Kultura (Culture) and Mir (World) TV stations are broadcasted
here under intergovernmental agreements.

Thirteen of radio stations are in Yerevan and 2 in regions. Radio
France is broadcasted under an agreement between the two countries. The
biggest private radio stations are AR and Radio Hye. The Public Radio
is funded by the government, like H1 and Nor Alik.
