NO COMPARISON IS POSSOBLE, VARDAN KHACHATRYAN SAYS

Armenia
As we know, the ex-President announced during the October 26
demonstration that "It is not allowed to renounce the fact that the
salaries, pensions and benefits are, nonetheless, growing. However,
considering the price increase recorded during the past years, the
increase of the people’s pecuniary gain appears to have a zero effect."
Commenting upon this assessment in response to our question, VARDAN
KHACHATRYAN, Minister of Economy and Finance considered it even
pointless to seriously touch upon Mr. Ter-Petrosyan’s mental trainings.
The fact is that, in his opinion "Armenia was one country till the
year of 2000 and quite a different country – after 2000. To speak
about the growth of the prices considering that the price increase
was 147 per cent in 1995 and was calculated in thousands – before
that and not to believe in the current statistics doesn’t even make
sense. It is his problem, and I can’t say anything in this regard.
The figures are available; there is the dynamics of the Dram-Dollar
exchange rate, and you may make sure of it yourselves."
Nevertheless, he added that even in the blissful days of 1995 "the
Gross Domestic Product did not exceed 147 billion; the GDP-tax
correlation was 5.4 per cent, the total income was 19.5 per cent,
and the deficit was 6 per cent."
That’s to say, "No comparison is possible".
