PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER RECEIVE VAREL FREEMAN

President Robert Kocharyan yesterday received First Vice President
Varel Freeman of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD). President press services report that during the meeting the
sides discussed the present and future programs of cooperation and
issues related to the Armenian banking system.

Kocharyan mentioned the cooperation with EBRD runs effectively,
opening new opportunities for partnership. Varel Freeman said that the
dynamically developing banking system of Armenia, the reforms in the
financial sector create good preconditions for new and large-scale
programs. The interlocutors also spoke about the development of
insurance market in Armenia and opportunities to attract experienced
foreign investors to Armenia.

Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan also received Varel Freeman and the
delegation spearheaded by him yesterday. Government information and
public relations department informed that the prime minister has
voiced his hope that effective cooperation will continue.
