YEREVAN, OCTOBER 31, NOYAN TAPAN. The organ of Komitas Chamber
Music House will sound for the first time after repairs on November
1 at organist Christopher Stembridge’s, Hover chamber choir’s,
Narekatsi ensemble’s and singer Anna Mayilian’s concert. As Andranik
Haroutiunian, the Director of the Chamber Music House, said at the
October 31 press conference, German specialist Christian Vekscheider
repaired the organ without demanding any payment.
The organ placed at the Chamber Music House by the Flentrop Dutch firm
since 1979 was considerably damaged due to the lack of heating in the
hall in the 1990-s, and it seemed that it was impossible to restore the
organ. However, according to Aram Talalian, the organizer of the annual
festival of baroque music held in Armenia, visiting Armenia in summer,
C. Stembridge promised that his good friend Christian Vekscheider will
come to Yerevan and will repair the organ without any payment. And
indeed, the German specialist managed in 10 days to restore the copy
of the organ created in the second half of the 18th century.
A. Talalian also said that they have reached an agreement with the
RA Ministry of Culture to send one of Armenian organists to Germany
for the purpose of retraining.
