In the framework of European politics in 2008, Armenia will receive 15
millions euros, and in 2009, 5 million euros. This news was revealed
today during 2008 budget discussions by Bavel Safaryan, representative
of the finance and economics ministry.
In his words, 3.262 billion dram of the amount will be directed to
reforming of the middle education system.
In his turn, foreign ministry representative Gegham Gharibjanyan
informed that in the framework of two EU programs, Armenia will
receive five million euros.
These programs are foreseen for those desiring EU membership and
are intended for assisting administrative, legal, and institutional
systems to reach European standards. Avet Adonts, president of the
committee on European integration, said that the outline of the new
budget does not completely reflect financial resources that are guided
towards European integration and the solving of related issues. "Today
we concentrated on the amount of financing planned for next year,"
Adonts said, adding that a translation center will be created in the
structure of the Justice Ministry to translate administrative laws
and to help meet European standards. Adonts added that an agreement
concerning Armenia’s part in the European neighbors’ program was signed
on November 14, 2006, and which has been in force since January 1. The
program is worth a total of 100 million euros, and is foreseen to last
five years. Adonts pointed out that the program might be completed
in four years.
