ArmInfo. Being alarmed at possible adoption of the Armenian Genocide
Resolution N106 by US Congress, Turkey resorts to the ideological
diversion, psychologist David Jamalyan said at today’s press-conference
in "Mirror" club.
He said that the Armenian society’s attitude to discussion of the
Resolution N106 in the USA Congress is ambiguous, that is caused by
the existing complex economic and social problems in Armenia, the way
out of which many see in the trade relations with Turkey. In such a
situation, the interethnic conflict lacks behind the trade-economic
relations. D. Jamalyan considers the problem not only at an everyday
level but also in the political plain, indicating that separation of
the Armenian public to two parts is beneficial for Turkey. "Meanwhile,
Armenia needs a single political platform on this problem. Turkey’s
attempts to separate the Armenian society indicates that Armenia
strengthens its position in the international arena.
For his part, a political expert Mikael Zolyan emphasized that
possible adoption of the Resolution N106 by US Congress should be
considered not only as a result of the Armenian communities’ vigorous
activities but also as part of the global processes aimed at correction
of the historical mistakes and condemnation of genocides. As a result,
Turkey, which claims for EU membership, turned out to be in the center
of attention of the USA and CE.
