YEREVAN (YERKIR) – An inter-party conference was held in Yerevan
between the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau and
Ramkavar Azatakan (Democratic Liberal) Party Central Board to address
the challenges the Armenian people face in the homeland and Diaspora
and to reach a national unity and consolidation.
The meeting was held on November 6 in the Ani Plaza Hotel.
"National unity and accord are the mostly heard phrases in the Armenian
reality," ARF Bureau representative Hrant Margarian said in his opening
remarks. "It is natural that this request of the people is addressed
to the political elites and this is possible only by engaging in
a dialogue. We have to engage in a political culture that supposes
mutual respect, dialogue, tolerance and free exchange of thoughts. I
am sure this meeting will have a positive outcome."
"We are the participants and witnesses of an unprecedented meeting:
Armenian classical parties gather in Yerevan for the first time in
Armenia’s history to jointly plan and complement issues like the
Armenian Cause, international recognition of the Armenian Genocide,
the settlement of the Artsakh conflict, enhancement of Armenia’s
international image and defence of the righst of Armenians," Ramkavar
Party’s Central Board chairman Mike Kharabian said.
An agreement to hold a meeting between the traditional Armenia
parties was reached this April. The Hnchak party, however, could not
participate in the meeting due to time.
